Qi Is Real

The purpose of acupuncture is to adjust the flow of qi (energy) in the body. Researchers at the NYU school of medicine have recently discovered that much of the connective tissues in our bodies is made up of interconnected, fluid-filled compartments. According to one of the authors of a recent study: “the protein bundles seen in the space are likely to generate electrical current as they bend with the movements of organs and muscles, and may play a role in techniques like acupuncture.” It’s no coincidence that most acupuncture points are located in these interstitial areas. It’s great to see Western science catching up with ancient wisdom!
